Ohio Republicans Poem by Randy McClave

Ohio Republicans

Up in Ohio the Republicans all say
A husband can now rape his wife on any day,
No matter how much that she screams and shouts, "NO! "
An Ohio wife must now allow that sickness and woe.
She has no right to her body at all
Whenever her husband wants sex she must obey his call,
No longer can a wife be raped or abused
According to Ohio republicans a husband can't be accused.
From his needs and desires the wife must always allow
Upon her body her husband is allowed legally to plow,
And if she is brutalized from her husband's sexual assault
Legally now, it's not his fault.
If a woman's husband is ever drunk or even high
His advances towards his wife she cannot ever deny,
Even if he is angry and having a fit
Unto her husband's needs she must always submit.
I feel so sorry for all the brothers and fathers in other states
When their sisters and daughters are with their husbands in Ohio on dates,
Now by law wives can be treated sexually coarse
Without a wife's consent she can be penetrated by force.
A married woman must now always open her legs
No longer does her husband begs,
Because, whenever her husband is in the mood
She must always be ready and not cold or selfish or prude.
Up in Ohio the Republicans have all decided
And not one of them was apposed or appalled and none divided,
A husband's wife in Ohio cannot be raped by him
A husband with the Ohio laws will always be protected for that whim.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Ohio Republican says married men can't rape their wives. Approval of House Bill, a nonpartisan proposal that would get rid of an arcane provision of Ohio law that protects spouses from prosecution against rape, unless the raping spouse threatened force or the couple lives in separate homes, should have been a no-brainer.
