Of remembered words and psychology tests
-Gayathri B. Seetharam
I am reading O. Henry's 100 Selected Stories and the first one
Is the famous and beautiful tale of the wife selling her long hair
And the husband selling his watch to buy each other Christmas gifts
And I was reminded of the word, parsimonious, and I thought that stingy is a succinct substitute;
And I longed for a work crowd with whom after exchanging pleasantries
I would have had a short conversation on a topic of choice
But I would have had to steer clear of being thought of as slacking off
And hence, my work ethics would have to have been really good and they were;
I had a fourth word which eluded me
And it was a wonderful word for loving
And I looked up the thesaurus but I could not find a match
But came upon a number of psychology tests;
And these remind me of being a psychology subject for my older sister
And an older girlfriend and having worked as a psychology subject for $5 per hour
In Arizona State University for Dr. Bill Uttal
And I shall discuss a few of these from internet research;
But I have had a psychological shock
For I thought all these years that my older sister is as big breasted as me
But my eyes may have played tricks on me
For I used to wear her sari blouses when playing Barbie and attending some social occasions;
But appearances may have been deceptive
And I owe my niece a silent apology for
I have drawn attention to her flat chest gently
And rued the fact that she did not develop big breasts like both of us;
Looking up the psychology tests, my attention fell upon
Brown's personality inventory
And it meant matching shapes with a certain personality type
And since I liked all the shapes, I might be a combination of several traits
But I like my freedom among other things;
I looked up Rogers Process scale
And it is a complicated psychotherapy assessment procedure
And I roger that
And steer clear of it;
Lastly, I looked up word association test
And the website, Twinwords came up with this personality type for me:
Promoter / Athletic
The ultimate realist
Outgoing, realistic, action-oriented, curious, versatile, spontaneous.
