SHADOWS SWALLOW ME WHOLE / TAINTING MY PURE SOUL - vivid opening image; your vocabulary is very specific and concrete but the image as a while retains much of its mystery. And you don't do anything as trivial as explaining things in bland prose! Instead you show how powerful this disappointment by how far and wide and high you go to deal with it - into the night realm, abandoning the Light, achieving full flight in bright starlight. Wow! that is a poetic vision, it raises you the speaker, and us your readers out of our narrow egos into a visionary state, even if it just imaginary it is no less r-e-a-l. You are doing the same thing John Keats did in his great Odes of 1819 - when life experiences are irretrievably negative, you write a poem so that you can RE-LIVE THEM IMAGINATIVELY and fulfill your heart's desire. I know this doesn't replace real life, rather it prepares you spiritually, for the next stage of real life. You are as Pablo Neruda (the great Neruda!) put it F-U-L-L-Y E-M-P-O-W-E-R-E-D.! !
