The Black Spots of Christendom
So written..so Read:
Religion is the history of piece
As my grand father often said
But it is Filled with dread
If mingled with the affairs of state.
Then it is a history of Bloodshed
Instead!
My father's reply resounds in my head.
In his' the Miserable ' the Genius Giant
Victor Hugo wrote and I Read:
((The dying statesman to the bishop said:
During a visit to him once paid:
I grieve for Marrie Antoinette
An archduchess and a queen
But I grieve no less for
The Huguenot woman,
Then nursing an infant
Who under the great Louis
Was bound to a post
Naked to the waist
While the child was held
In front of her
Naked from feet to head
Her breasts swelled with milk
Her heart with anguish and dread,
As the starving child
Cried to be fed
Her gaoler said
' Recant'
Offering her the choice
Between the death of her Baby,
And the death of her Conscience!))
Aye..religion history is
One Black and Red
