Ode To Victor Hugo (44) the Miserable shadow

Somber, silent and vengeful
An outcast of the laws
With no identity
Looking accusungly at Heaven
A psychologist might find him
a sick man
For whom he might feel pity
But for whom he could
Propose no remedy
He lived in shadow
Suffered in shadow,
Hated the shadows,
Lived in darkness,
Flumbling like a blind man
A man in a Dream,
Condemned by a lawfull committee
Overmaken by a burst
Of furious rage.
Can a single rage
Do any harm to a city? !
Instinct prompted him to run,
Where reason
Would have bidden him stay
A man had lost his own name
To a single number
an act that smothered his wits
And blunted his curiousity!
