The bishop had had all locks and bolts removed
No door in the house could be locked
By day and night the door was only latched
And anyone, could enter at any time
His sister had moments of misgiving
She was too much concerned
The bishop's view in this aspect,
in three lines conveyed:
(This is the distiniction, he said,
The doctor's door must never be shut,
The priest's door must always be open
Yet another point to be noted:
Am I not as much a doctor as they are?
I too have my patiënts;
Theirs, whom they call sick;
Mine, whom I call unfortunate!)
The two household women
were thus reassured
