Ode To The Black Women Poem by sydney conteh

Ode To The Black Women

You are a place of freedom.
Where thoughts fly in the wind.
Calmly, courageously lifting us.

You are a place of freedom.
Where you can rest your head.
Where laughter is involuntary.
Your voice is medicine.
Remedy for cracked hearts.
Remedy for rejection that can make it hard to breathe.

You are novena.
A place so mysterious some people never find it.
Well, it is in you.
You have a burning passion.
You have an unfiltered soul.
You can instil hope.
You are strong enough to fight for your rights.

You are novena.
You come with a crystal lake, containing so much knowledge.
You are novena.
Come with a rainbow sky.
It is beautiful, both physical and soul-deep.
You are novena.
A collection of billions of stars.
Showing all the way you shine.

You are novena.
You are a black queen.
