Ode To Readers Poem by Sophie Allyah

Ode To Readers

The adjudicator
The ones who criticize
They enjoyed being the critics

Some only dispraise you
Of enviousness;
Misinterpretations;
Hatefulness;
Or they don't understand at all

And some praise you too high a pedestal
Only because you are writing what they love

Don't get me wrong
Readers are fellows of strangers
Resembling tourists, audience and customers
Guesting in your world
Through articles, news, fashions,
Novels, postings, and poems
Because they are curious
And because they love to read

They are like dogs who feed
Of what you gave them:
Sometimes they like it
And sometimes they do not

The writers are the piston
Also the diesel engine
That ignites the diesel fuel
And the readers are the igniting diesel fuel
Injected into the cylinder
Where the combustion and expansion
Actuate the piston.
