I also created a certificate awarding the leader of our Council for having the tallest Japanese knotweed and Himalayan balsam plants at out lake than any other Council. They were soon cut down as he knows me enough that I'd put it in the local paper.

If the pothole is small and yr not likely to be run over, fill it with cornflakes and a litre if milk, take a photo, send it to yr local paper as a letter saying the council latest road repairs, they'll fix it as you'll get so many comments. It worked for me….
