The lines like, "The gen'rous spark extinct revive /Teach me to love, and to forgive" and "Exact my own defects to scan/What others are to feel; and know myself a man"…. are precious substances of veneration.

A great ode to adversity! Hardship teaches us many lessons unfolding the peculiar cases and limitations that you failed to experience before. Consequently it has a great merit that increases self-awareness by offering new choices to think, and act judiciously.

Wisdom, in sable garb array'd, Immers'd in rapt'rous thought profound, And melancholy, silent maid, With leaden eye that loves the ground, //// superb and profound writings

These lines enhance the beauty: 'Thy form benign, propitious, wear, 'Thy milder influence impart; ... To soften, not to wound my heart. The gen'rous spark extinct revive: Perhaps too much use of ellipsis (not words here, but vowels) could have been avoided.

Adversity let us appreciate more the peace, gives us wonderful lessons in humility. But I would not adore it like this in an ode, for if we remain focused on the good, the universe tends to works with us and adversity sometimes remains at bay for long.
