Some purists sure get praised as Gandhian,
Yet, crass nevertheless is no more crime,
Old values are hailed may be in heaven.

Yet, there seems but one thing to me nigh clear: Virtue and vice.... alone survives the soul.... //.... Exquisitely created marvel of a poetry with a fine commentary on the present times as well as values and a philosophical stand point through the eyes of an old timer/ war (of life) veteran. Thanks & Congratulations.

Congrats! a well deserved selection as member's poem. The poet has presented a philosophic thought. I can only add it's not easy to forget the old virtues we can only try to run the old and new virtues side by side.
I have a great respect for your views, dear poet, thanks for the comments made.
We used to think slavery was a virtue and that crucifixion was just and that killing someone because they were different to you. So what are these virtues the same as they always have been respect your fellow man/woman and be kind, do not steal, murder or be unjust do not commit adultery or judge your fellow man but above all love everyone. Those virtues have not changed
You have a point of your own, dear poet. To some certainly, certain values are not changed. A poet writes with his own perspective, he presents his expression of heart, rational thinking produces no poetry, yet, certain things have indeed changed. and that is the subject matter of this poem. Thanks for visiting and commenting,
Have enjoyed this marvelous exiting poem Ode On Old Virtues - Ii. From Ghandi till Mahabharata, mentioned, it be as a cultural heritage or as a storehouse of lore, this is sheer luxury reading such a tremendous excellent poem. Perfect powerful words well chosen, ah mesmerizing, Sir! I am very happy to know that this is chosen as the Member Poem Of The Day. Hurray! A 10 Full Score and myriad of 10's more. God Bless You in Abundance. CONGRATULATIONS!
Are the the old virtues losing their significance in todays' context? Perhaps the things which were held in high value in the past are no longer given that much respect now. What we define as 'virtue or a 'vice' may be diffrent, but all will accept that we should uphold virtue and discard vice. A very thought provoking poem.Congratulations for being selected as the Poet of the Day! Wish you here a Very Happy New Year 2020!
Thanks for both. POTD, I actually never knew, And seasons greetings to you.
