Apparelled in celestial light,
The glory and the freshness of a dream.

Agree. One of the great English poems. Not at all too long. Readers too short, maybe. What happened to the American attention span?

Agree a little with Richter, but do love Wordswoworth's shorter poems, The Daffodils is his Chef d'Oeuvre. Alas, too long for today's ear, our listening and reading power has diminished, a shame, but evolution never stops for anyone. Panmelys

I don't have time for lengthy poems on my daily reads, sadly.... Not only that but I wish the daily poems were of lesser known poets that I may not already know. I certainly am not saying that this poem is not worth reading. But I come here when I have a few moments to read something new... and only a few moments. Everyone has studied Wordsworth at one point or another.

Not everyone as studied Wordsworth, there are poets and readers from many diverse countries languages and cultures who gather to read poems of the day. Your wish is already granted John, instead of reading the Poem of the Day, try reading 'Modern Poem' and particularly 'Member Poem'. The member poems are not necessarily lesser know poets to their friends and followers, but their are many and their poems are usually recent. With regard to reading short poems, try haiku or flick to another poem or poet if the first poem encountered is too long. Most poets who write frequently write a range of long and short poems, this adds spice and seasoning to their topics, themes, tones, styles etc. Variety is the spice of life, there are differing poets and themes for our differing moods. Hope you find more time John. All work and no play makes John and I dull boys, but I am off out to play soon, redemption :)

I was able to read it better here than in a book. I am sorry I have no eloquent words or deep thoughts about this poem. I do enjoy each line and I take time to compare yesterday to today. It's sort of ageless that way. I just think it's lovely.

Eloquence is in the pleasure of your reading, the appreciation of your enjoyment and the depth of your thoughts upon each line Sandra.
