A shotgun kicked, a deafening boom and pellets through him tore
A scream of pain, ‘twas all in vain for his heart would beat no more

The tigress licked what remained of her leg; which broke off from a snare

I never know why mankind can be so cruel to animals, whether they be tigers, elephants, rhino's or even family pets. Killing for food is one thing, but killing for sport or the mistaken belief that part of an animals anatomy has some form of healing power is absolutely despicable. Powerful poem.

Man's greed knows no boundaries. Thanks David

I am not able to bear cruelty to animals. Why is it that human beings are so cruel? The Bengal Tiger is famed for its majestic appearance! They need to be protected and saved. Loke, you have narrated the whole story with rhythmic brilliance. A heart melting portrayal! 10+++

Thank you Geeta for sharing your feelings with me, Greed makes most people mad and cruelty becomes just a word.

A touching poem, how cruel are the men who kill animals just for fun!

Indeed man can be cruel, nothing can be worse than to overcome the challenges of nature and then to be killed by man

Amazing write! You have told the story in such a plausible way with great empathy in beautiful rhyming! It is sad that the Bengal tiger is under great threat though it is the national animal of India and poachers are liable to get severe punishment. However the recent attempts at protecting them and the creation of tiger reserves have helped in stabilizing their number. It seems that you have first hand experience of wild life......! This deserves top marks!

Thank you Valsa, Nature brings one closer to our creator, To be able to appreciate the beauty of nature is perhaps one of the greatest gift given to some of us. I count my blessings.

WOW...so well penned and so devastating. The tiger does not know what he should not touch as he would just go for the best options and when he comes to close to man he will often pay with his life. The picture of the magnificent beast dead is a shock and a cruel reality.

Thanks Simone, these are difficult writes as some research is needed and then you have to try and rhyme what you want to say!
