'Oh mother, no more make up please I look freak in it Let the world see me in me, - - - -This stanza sums up the spirit of a modern woman who wants to be honest from in and out and wants to face the world with courage on her own without depending upon father, brother or husband. She is self confident, brave and honest. She is ready to face reality. She prefers a life which is true than to a life of falsehood.Very well expressed poem. Thanks for sharing.

This is the image of a changing woman in our society. She wants to break free of old stereotypes and superficial impositions. Great poem on changing mindset. Thanks. Let the world see me in me / I dare to go... / Without being shadowed by my father, brother and my husband.

To be honest the the idea of 'fairy tales' being sweet, cute, stories written for children and adapted into cartoons and movies is more a Disney invention than anything else! In the original Grimm brothers' fairy tales, the stories have all but happy endings! Life is not a bed of roses and we should not romanticise it.. Women have it hard upon themselves in all spheres of society to actually find any 'freedom' whatsoever.. A well-crafted poem Bakuli.. Thanks for sharing.. __________ P: S: In the lines: 'O mother! Whisper not! Speak allowed, There’s none to fear. The world is us, just us. As they’re too Just, a part of us.' I think it should be 'speak ALOUD', as in speaking 'loudly', rather than speak 'allowed' which suggests that she is allowed to speak.. Or did you go for a paranomasia there? ? It left me curious Bakuli.. Thanks again for sharing your poem..

First, I thank you for correcting my blunder! ! Thank you so much! ! And then, I agree with you when you say Disney is responsible for injecting these whims and fancies in the mind of young children. At the same time, we can’t deny a few folk tales telling the same tale. Forget about folk tale just take the example of our epics. In the Mahabharata Draupadi needed Krishna (although he wasn’t the prince charming there, but a man) to rescue her and in the Ramayana Sita needed Ram.
