Fantastic verse. Perhaps we discovered or invented numbers because we are so obsessed with ranking and ordering. Magnificent poem!
The number game is sometime very tricky. People compete to be no 1. Why not let the numbers be left alone to do its own work.
Very much an immortal poem...fresh and catchy...thanks and kudos Bharati...I wish all children who don't like math read this great poem of yours.. indeed a must read work
The importance of numbers is greater than when it was invented due to the arrival of computers.Well crafted Mam.
I don't think I've ever been 'indigenous'. Have YOU! ? Ok! I was not planning on giving you stars, BUT 1 - I like the title 2 - It IS in stanzas AND 3 - YOU SAID YOU'D SEND MY ICE CREAM 4 - you ARE my friend. so 4 stars.
Oh! I just realized: Those 'indigenous' aka 'Being a member of the original inhabitants of a particular place' were just 'pulling the leg(s) ' of the anthropologist! ! The Indians could count to infinity! !
When 'anthropologists worked with the indigenous Amazonian people known as the Pirahã, they realized the members of the tribe had no word used consistently to identify any quantity, not even one. '

I fear that someday I'll forget the 1 number in my PH user name. Then Iup the creek without a paddle'
(cont.) I HAD TO REMOVE THE 'illegal word', actually the dollar sign, which PH objects to, before I could get to send this comment. ;)
But, Bharati, speaking of 'the most essential thing in our daily living', why wouldn't you mention ICE CREAM? Oh, maybe I understand: Bri buys 15 gallons of ice cream, pays 58.99 for it, drives 18 miles home to eat it, eats it all in 2 weeks, gains 7 pounds, and sits on toilet 11 timse/day. ;) ,
" Though mathematics look puzzling".. I disagree, Poet Bharati. Mathematics is the most interesting subject. As you have observed, it is most essential "infrastructure" for development of all sciences like physics, chemistry, economics…
A gift to mankind, without numbers we would be struggling to count.
Very true, this invention is something to do with everyone. Superb! ! ! 5*****
Whole life of a person is based upon complicate calculations involving math. Very nicely written. Great share. Enjoyed.
A wonderful poem dear poetess Bharati. Enthrall the readers' community. Keep writing
Bharati, today I'm trying to leave 1,2,5, or 20 comment(s) on the 37th-listed poem on each of my favorite PH member's list of poems. There are 'too many'. ;) bri
