I signed up for a four year hitch
How I wish now I was digging a ditch,
Everywhere that I look there is water
It just gets hotter.
I had met up with a drunken sailor
Then I went to a drunken tailor,
As I walked the roads were wavy
Now I'm in the navy.
I use to love to sleep in late
Breakfast was cooked by my beautiful date,
She was there always for me
Now I'm without her on the sea.
Now I awake at 4 am
How I miss the cooking of my sweetheart Kim,
Now the cook is a dude named Davy
Now I'm in the navy.
I miss my apartment where I slept
Where my greatest memories are kept,
Where I was happy when I was alone
Now I cry and moan.
Now I'm on a mighty ship
Taking a long four year trip,
The roads are never calm but always wavy
Now I'm in the navy.
