Nourished By Melting Ice Poem by Mark Heathcote

Nourished By Melting Ice

Docking next to a melting iceberg,
…colder …still
The centre cores of her Irish heart.

Her ghostly Celtic figure is out tonight.
Stain glass teardrops light up the dark
I'm taxied in a flickering firelight...

I'm waiting for frozen water to ignite!
Evaporate me with all my old life.
Now her blackbird's wings beat in starlight.

I'm longing for a second flight and a moment to reunite.
Lose all my frozen earthly weight.
Shine like the stars between us two tonight.
