Nothing Said Poem by Bryan Sefton

Nothing Said

After the words uttered coldly
(Well there was no other way)
We stood and we looked at each other
Each having nothing to say

Well I was the one done the talking
She was the one standing mutt
I think I'd have thought o' something to say
Were the boot on the other foot

But she just stood and said nothing
As if she couldn't care less
Stuck her tongue through her gum, blew a bubble
It crashed in her face, what a mess

But she just stood like a dummy
With the safety pin stuck through her nose
Tattooed on her arm the black rhino
Romantically carried a rose

She screwed up her face, looking weary
Like there was a life she was missing
Wish I hadn't told her we're finished
That would have taught her a lesson
