Nothing Fills My Heart Poem by Malabika Ray Choudhury

Nothing Fills My Heart

Rating: 5.0

my days meander through a multitude of activities -
I play my cherished songs on the piano for an hour,
I read five spellbinding books - by my favourite authors,
I bike ten kilometres in a trail leading to credit river,
nothing fills my heart,
the way it does when I speak to you!

I walk three times around the block, and more,
I enjoy long chats with my neighbours,
I cook Spaghetti and bake a dessert,
chocolate mousse - the ultimate favourite,
doesn't matter what I do,
I long to speak to you!

I wake up early at dawn - awed at ruby-red sunlight enveloping the horizon,
pull a lounger and sit in my garden, with no one around,
gaze at the mesmerizing colours in the palette of the aquamarine sky,
listen to playful chirping birds, crooning a sublime musical sonata,
serenading me to far-away magical past,
still I long most for the precious moments which brought us together.
