I have to give up everything
Whatever is mine,
Nothing belongs to me
What I boast to be of mine.

...........this is one of the most real poems I have ever read.....so true....and definitely makes one think of living a simple life with few belongings....cause what you said is absolutely true.....nothing actually belongs to anyone....everything we see belongs to God....and he is very kind and gracious to lone it to us......I am adding this write to my favourites...
WOW' such a perfect realization! ! When we leave this mortal life, we just can't carry anything with us even this body also Loved these lines with wisdom I have to leave my heart and my mind, I have to leave my I..... Fantastic 10 on 10
Beautiful poem. Very true said in just one line.....I have to leave my I. Very true said whatever we have got, we got it from here and we have to leave everything here when we go, including our body....So we are left with nothing, including the word I....
Absolutely right Amitava....! Whatever riches we accumulate here, we have to forsake... Perhaps we many be able to leave behind some memories sweet or sour in others' mind.... That too will fade away in course of time! What lives on forever is our soul.... Enjoyed this beautiful poem!
Amazing! ! Yes it is perfect, Amitava. It is how I think of things exactly. This poem is my treasure, I will read it often. My soul has everything it needs to take me to heaven. Thank you Amitava. RoseAnn
You are partly, with your soul you will carry your acts. And you will leave behind many things such as good children properly socialized. Whenever your children will do any thing good, you will also get the benefit. If plant a tree which provides shelter and fruits to others you will be benefited, The reason is simple even after you your acts will serve the humanity.
Ah, but if soul exists and I believe it does, then don't you think we carry our memories with us too. Aren't our memories what truly give flesh to our soul, in fact imprint our humanity on our soul. And don't you also think that our memories of things are in fact sometimes even superior to the actual experience we are remembering? I do! My memory of hearing Mahler's 9th Symphony live for the first time far exceeds any the chance of my ever recreating this experience again. Like making love to a woman you love for the first time, there is just one first time! Looking forward to reading more of your work Dear Poet.
