Not For Me Poem by Samuel Richard Leonard

Not For Me

I want to bleed the way a lilac sky kisses mountain tops,
and weigh upon the earth in sheets of rain.
Maybe I could churn (butter)in a breeze cast over tree tops;
sway the way bushes sway or fade as the moon wanes;
but I know what I am, what I've come to be:
a melancholy sea, still and unwavering.
No matter the love, no matter how happy,
I don't believe I can be anything.
Not for me at least, but oh for you;
for you I will dredge all that I am,
muster all that I can
so we can finally and simply be.
