Not For Losing Weight

When Jesus walked upon the land
Denying cup and meat
Suffering desert, burning sand
Till Satan met defeat

We too can flee the fowler’s snares
Each tempting ploy today
Resist buying the serpent’s wares
And see him crawl away

Who’d seek for victory in God’s Son
His guidance to receive
Who’d see mighty miracles done
Fasting; may well achieve

Fasting could break the strongest chain
May free from Satan’s claws
Can light the flame of hope again
And open many doors

Its not a way for losing weight
Excepting that of shame
But who declines from meat and plate
Can lift up Jesus’ name

Can touch the heart of God on high
Can move His hands of might
Can bring us treasure none can buy
Can put the foe to flight

True faith can grow through fasting prayer
Life’s spark can come ablaze
Can cause The Lord great gifts to share
As was in bible days

But many knees fail yet to bow
Like fools they’re plagued with doubt
They think to fast is not for now
Thus lose to Satan out
