This hit hard, thank you. A poem of (potentially) untold truths of broken lives between cultures of pretense, hamstrung nature and unempathetic nurture, recognising the suffering from all perspectives, strong.

Lack of empathy, total lack of love and caring..

We condemn state-run (state-funded) wars and organised terrorism. But such stray incidents as school-shoots should be talked about too.

I wonder what a childhood he would have endured to be nurturing so heavy a hatred towards the society

'May be he was the lone soul sane in an entire world insane.' And maybe not. Lock him up and sort out the details. That's why there are police, courts, lawyers, psychiatrist, etc. A worthy poem nonetheless. bri

Lock him up? He was shot dead too, instead. By the police. Who was wrong in shooting, he or the police? I have doubts…

'the eroded American Values of Universal kinship' I doubt any country/people have ever practiced 'universal kinship'. And I do not see the 'REJOINDERS' you felt you left at my other entries. : )

Everyone should write about this (and all similar) tragedy. But we should not ignore the Social Cause. Nobody wields a gun at birth…

Why do we promote violence through constantly showing violence through news channels? TV channels get more TRPs through their shows, but at what cost?

Vinoba Bhave has written long long back: we see our fingernails still growing. They are remnants of our violent past, though they are no longer needed in the current situation

You have raised many pertinent questions through this heart wrenching poem. Why the school kids taking guns? Are not the Government, society or parents responsible for it? Each child needs love, care and education. Why there is no restriction for sale of weapons? (Part-1)

I repeat, Bharati: nobody wields a gun at birth. It is we, the society, who hand him a gun, who arm him with his gun.

Perhaps a trial will bring your contentions to light. Interesting. But shouldn't children be given a chance to mature?

Yes! But every child deserves it! Bri, Bri….
