'' So why not unwrap the gift on hand and reap the precious moment! '' - the gift being: The Present. A hard thing to do, as The Past is interfering in our thoughts; but it can be achieved with meditation. A great poem.

Joyful pangs of nostalgia have their philosophical overtones as well. The poem is a virtual tour into the phases of things in life intricate. I think the notes about the poem may be done away with.

So friend, do not clutch excessively onto the debris of the sunken past That has vanished whole into the sea of darkness with its sails and mast, Each day that peeps over the horizon is the Almighty’s brightest present So why not unwrap the gift on hand and reap the precious moment! There is so much of truth and beauty combined in these lines! This practical wisdom is what is needed! ! Immensely enjoyed!
