A well written poem on an unpleasant topic. I understand how annoying insects can be. “NO-see-‘em” can be terrible. But even worse, much worse, are chiggers, aka red bugs, virtually invisible and VERY painful. Fire ants are also very bad but if your careful they are easy to avoid. Chiggers ARE the worst. Although mom says the New Jersey state bird (mosquito) can be bad too. Darla : ( yes a frown, it's the thought of chiggers
Such tiny flies are so messy! They are in plenty in the summer season here in our part of the country! I don't know what they are called! Once they bite there is long itching and irritation! They are so tiny that two or three can be accommodated in the space of a pin point! An interesting poem, but leaves an 'itch'! (joking!) See how even such insignificance gains significance in the eyes of a poet!
I love this poem. Anyone who has been bitten by these diminutive creatures will be glad you've spoken their fears and roar with laughter at lines such as: You may never see one in zoo or museum, and that’s because it’s a “NO-see-‘em”.
