It is difficult to share with another the process by which opening a mind takes place. And how that is recognized. My recommendation: Do not force anything upon your mental capabilities 'anything' your mind is not prepared to comprehend. And, of course, that would mean a broadening of it has to take place. That process develops by a willful abandonment of one's comfort zone!

Lawrence: Isn't this character assassination? If a person cannot stick to the subject being discussed, then they turn and begin to bring up things you have done in the past, or character imperfections in order to 'win' the discussion. Happens in small towns... I will write a poem about that soon! Expressed well but I may have missed the point-this is what I thought of when I read it. Thank you, and keep writing.
