I wear bright colors,
for, despite
the sadness
on this earth,
where brother
murders brother,
where hatred abounds,
and children cry
in the night
with fear and hunger.
I celebrate with gratitude
the many blessings
granted us.
I revel in
the truths
that sunshine sparkles,
and rain drops splash,
and birds still
fill the world
with liquid song...
that puppies snuggle,
and airy butterflies
flit between
the vivid blossoms
in my yard.
I can't repair
this broken world,
nor satisfy
each starving child,
or banish fear,
war and despair.
so I shall treasure
perfect moments
with gratitude
profound and firm.
