No Industry In The Field Of Mind Poem by Raj Dronamraju

No Industry In The Field Of Mind

I don't like to come here
Because I remember the "here" of some time ago
The "here" of fields and rivers and trees and animals

In the enormous dawn
Revealing what new destruction humanity has wrought
I see factories and buildings and housing developments where I used to go for morning walks

I don't like to come here but when I do I choose to blot it all out
No industry, only the fields and the rest of the environment I remember
Deliberate blindness for happiness, rebellion, and personal perception truths

No industry and no urban sprawl
See only that youthful natural expression
I won't test this with physical interaction with steel and glass

With heads as empty as the expanse of naked, barren ground where used to grow waist high tall grass
They plot their money subterfuge
And they spit upon the Earth

But I'll inhale deeply and scrunch up my mind and….
Keep the industry and rapacious growth out
Keep the memories of when nature lived here in
