On a day like this when everyone celebrates their dads
We feel sad having had no dad to call dad
Tears swell and trickle down the blooded walls of our hearts
For our fatherlessness despite a father that should be a dad
But isn't
Some dads had wanted our deaths
Others swore over their dead bodies would we have success
Yet we rose
Against their whims we chose
That their machinations aren't with our consents
Our thought patterns do not align with their enchantments
Despite how heavy the pardlock
With which they locked our destinies
We fly
Because the wind cannot be caged
Yes, stars shine to the endless end
Unstopped!
Destinies aren't outcomes but destinations
We choose our outcomes
And give them power to choose where to perch
That's still not our end
Our end is written by our maker
In the book he hasn't shown no one
So what you locked
Is your assumption that's totally not ours
We can't wish them 'Happy fathers' day'
We rather should wish that everyday would be to them a sad day
Because
Because they hadn't daddied enough to be told
Like I'd tell you
You whose family's happiness is the reward for your pain
Their pleasure and comfort a worthy pay for your hustle
You whose love is unconditional but only loved as much as you can provide
You wake up in the morning like the weight of the world's on your shoulder
And come back at night beaten by the hits of the day's palaver
Or sometimes you bid the world farewell from there
In a most tragic exit
Not received or having time to give final kiss and goodbyes
You who would give last drop of your blood
To see that your child
Like others live
Who'd counsel and advise
Though most times those are only seen to make sense
Only at last
When it's probably now too late
You who are a pillar of the home
The map for direction of the wheel
Yet in the end
In the end the mother is favoured most
And you endure
Until the day grave lays a bed for you
To you who have daddied enough to be a father
I'd really really say
Happy fathers' day
