No Complaints, My Friend Poem by Jinnuraine Jaigirdar

No Complaints, My Friend

No complaints, my friend—
Friendship is a thing of the past.
Our sorrows are buried, long forgotten,
A priest breathes his final gasp.

Extortion—now the darling song of society,
A shining emblem of modern civility.
Extortion—the dance tune of research halls,
The extortionist—honoured at banquets and balls.

Fear creeps in, gnaws at the heart of the street,
In a land where resistance and conscience retreat.
The king of extortion claims his silent throne,
While protest is talkative—but stands alone.

Thus, weakness reigns, and virtue is sold,
Corruption, each day, grows reckless and bold.
The party chief, once noble and just,
Now dons the mask of greed and mistrust.

He speaks with beauty, like a poet, a star,
While selling the soul of the people afar.
And slowly, surely, without a fight,
Society kneels to extortion's might.
