Nightmares Poem by Deluke Muwanigwa

Nightmares

Nightmares

They come and go
Why i don't know
In them you wish you could run faster
No matter how loud you call there are no ghost busters
Is it a bird?
Looking so weird?

I dream i am flying without wings
Flapping my arms in the wind
Just out reach
Gargoyles arms trying to breach
The gap
In my nap

I dream i am jogging
The road not clear it's fogging
Then next to me comes a stranger
Big, looks like a strangler
They become many
Then i wake with a start it's uncanny

There is a burglar at my window
Out of wisdom
I sleep with a point four four
When i pull the trigger it does not pour
No bullets come out
For help I cannot shout

They come and go
Why i don't know
Nightmares
Even daymares
WHO says they are bad?
Driving you mad?

Nightmares are your friend
Alive with you till the end
When you wake up screaming
You realise your pee was going to be streaming
Your arm is in need of more blood flow
Or, you are sleeping on a cold floor

Dream away
Everyday
Nightmares are you
Though some are not cool
They come alive unawares
Nightmares.
