Nightmare Poem by Elisha De La Rosa

Nightmare

The nightmares are fallen memories
Dark pictures flashed on the pastures of time
Black projections that soothes insanity
What punishment brought me this haunting crime?

I'm not safe underneath my false shelter
My expression was smooth but my heart raced
One night I saw a shadowy figure
It leered at me, with that empty, white face.

It's eyes was black, the stare of gruesome death
It reeked of graveyard soil, broken bones
Its hanging limbs extend, I feel it's breath
It screamed and faded, leaving me alone

What created this black devastation?
It was the work of my imagination.
