Night Rituals Poem by Steven Aragon

Night Rituals

In the dark, when its just us,
We feel safe.
The day's cares are left on the floor with our tshirts and shorts.
And our hearts unfurl and lay open for the other to enter.
We settle into the silence of night.
As I sync my breathing with yours and you lay your hand somewhere on my body.
It will move around as we sleep to reassure me youre there.
To assure you Im here.
And our life will start and end,
End and start,
At these small rituals.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I went through a period of needing to be safe and I found it. Little did I know he had a need to feel safe as well.

When you find someone who needs you as much as you need them, I would say, is the true definition of love.
