True. At times we feel so, when we are helpless to face defeats in life. There is death only to the physical body and not the soul, which lives eternally. The soul takes a new body when the old one perishes, just like one wears a new shirt when the old one is torn. In the next life, the experience of the past life (Vasanas) only is carried forward.
