Next Horizon Poem by Michael Walkerjohn

Next Horizon

Arise or else
Experience more so our humanity
Feel our digression as a species
Breathe in the impurities of our languishing progression
Question our human community…
Laughingly, what “point” would you believe in?
‘We’, versed in supposed “Manifest Destiny”
Resentingly deflect all humane humility
Imagine only that which ‘we’ defeat
Ourselves included; as ‘own worst enemy’…
To contrive “too be”, or perhaps not
Exist beyond the next horizon
