One night will change the entire calendar
and shift the old year to a new year;
and as the new year rings in
fireworks will shine in the skies,
the stars and the moon will feel so surprised,
the enthusiasm of the people will exceed its perimeters
as parties, music and dance will whirl and swirl
in everyone's heart with joy and profound hopes
as they usher the new year with great delight;
and just like little children visiting the park
people all around the world will stand united
to greet and celebrate the commencement
of a brand new year though no one knows
what it will hold in store;
so change your imaginations and your resolutions
let your hopes which have dwindled just revive
live each day with a new sense of direction
let your energy flow positively and generously
so that you achieve what is meaningful to your existence
so that you earn peace and give others their delight
so that you respect your dreams and those of others
so that you find God in your eyes as you see
so that you derive harmony in all that you explore
so that you live like a king or a queen for each day
just so satisfied with what you have and may not have
but in your castle of contentment wake up everyday
and feel the sunshine over your head and thoughts;
get enlightened that what you need you may not find
and what you find may not be your need;
so learn to laugh and be merry in context of happiness
learn to cry and be regretful in your framework of ill will
learn to be righteous in rectitude of your perception
learn to be great and gracious in your field of selflessness
learn to be you and just you in the New Year
so that your wagon of hopes rides on and takes you
to that platform of serenity and success at the end
of another twelve months which you can swivel
as you walk by each day with your own zest and zeal
as long as you endorse gratification in all your activities
and make those minutes and hours of your life
a dedication to self and to God as duty and devotion.
