Never Surrender Poem by Skylark Woodrow

Never Surrender

I do not fear what I cannot see.
Rather, I fear what I know awaits me,
When everything's gone and no light can reach me.

I am tired of this fight,
I don't want to wage this war,
But the only other option is surrender and I'm not going there.

I'm not the only one who has been here before,
I know what happens when you wave the white flag.
The earth cradles the fallen littered upon her face,
For when you surrender, it's only a matter of time before death.
Yes, the beds within the soil offer peace and take away the pain;
But I don't want relief that way.
I want joy.
I want life without this darkness haunting me.
I want to be free.
