Fortunately or unfortunately though, it will get your attention not by sending you a memo but by setting off that shrieking smoke alarm........so touching and impressive. This poem has a special attraction that brings me here for second reading. .

Sorry it took so long to reply- though I received notification that there was a comment on this poem, when I got here, it was not here. But the good PH fairy waved her wand and it appeared today! Glad you had a bit of fun with this! ! ;)

It is a beautiful poem having humour and fun with haunting expression. Each and every line is interesting to read and has its own important. Let me quote some lines here.... I am going to move a dining room chair into the kitchen where I will sit and not move so much as a hair staring at dinner till it is ready. Fantastic expression really. Enjoyed. Thanks for sharing.

I'm glad you enjoyed a bit of my sense of humor- -I try to keep it under cover but sometimes it just has to be expressed!

Well, I got that off my chest anyway- - I am so not a good cook that even today my children do not get excited about a dinner invitation- they seem to think they should bring it instead!

Lol...... I can relate to this one too, Susan. Watched pots never seem to boil fast enough...so I end up wandering off and forgetting about time. I love Robert's comment about cooking and looking.

Exactly! The water NEVER boils while you watch it- -it waits til you leave the room and then boils itself dry and ruins the pot and the ceiling and my fine temperament. :)

Hahahaha. Susan you sure know how to bring a smile to reader's face. You have a knack for humor. It comes so natural to you...something deeply rooted in you. I enjoyed reading it a lot. Indeed, a lesson for all ladies. Cooking is not such a piece of cake after all. LOL. A huge 10.

I did have fun writing these two! Again it pleases me to hear readers laugh. Love your line about Cooking is not such a piece of cake after all. You have the comic touch! ! ! ! Thank you for the 10, a burnt meal deserves some kind of attention.

PH is back to dumping comments so I will repeat it to the best of my memory. I had a lot of fun writing this poem, and I hope you had fun reading it. Sometimes we just need a bit of silly humor in life

Once I redesigned my wife's family crest in the shape of a black oblong with bars across to represent her talent for burning the toast! She was most ungrateful. Well, I said, it's a big improvement on that quiver full of arrows and that Celtic motto which translates into Come down from the hills, ye dogs, and eat flesh! which her Cameron family had. At least mine was in a proper language, French... Je suis prest I am ready... that might explain why I rarely burnt the toast while she was too busy charging down the hills and forgot the toast. Oh, I have had a silly day. sorry Susan. Great fun, your poem.

Your wife had either an unending supply of patience or a huge sense of humor. I suspect both! ! ! Wow, her family had an.... attention getting motto, didn't they? I actually kind of like it... after all, I would love to have a moat around my house with alligators and sharks in it.... ;)

Muhammad Ali, This is so distressing for me. I got on my site today for the first time without having to click on a notification link but sad to say I still cannot go to your page and pick out a poem to read. and PH still won't let me reply to your comment in a reply box.... So I will do what I can now and if PH ever decides to let me play on a regular playing field, I will remember I owe you a read!

so this is technology, a burner can teach a lesson, that is why it doesn't shut itself off. nice to read friend

PH is messing me up yet again... won't let me reply to comments on my poems and it is not allowing me to go to your poems page and find a poem to read- I just get a blank page. So I will do what I can now and if PH ever decides to let me play on a regular playing field, I will remember I owe you a read! Rebecca! ! ! ! ! ! ! You are precious. Never forget that. You always cheer me up no matter how grey the day. Remember this- -the better a cook you are- -the less you are writing.... so what is more important? why, writing, of course! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

Beats the stuffing out of my wise-cracking little poem. Why don't you turn your comment into a poem so that all PH land can read it and enjoy as I am doing. seriously. You certainly got my pointy little ears all perked up with that observation! I give your comment a 10+++++++++++++

You know the frailties of being a writer- -our minds are ever elsewhere which makes living in the here and now somewhat iffy! Thank you so much for coming and reading and commenting- -that way I don't feel so lonely in the kitchen anymore.
