Never Dead: The Legacy Of Urban Men In Rap: A Persona Poem Poem by Romella Kitchens

Never Dead: The Legacy Of Urban Men In Rap: A Persona Poem

I have seen the generations go now.
And, I am not even certain as to when and how.

There were eras amd music and people all about.
There were politics and culture that made you
protest, twist and shout.
The beats and the baseline of life keeps spinning
'round and 'round.
Still, I struggle and maintain to keep myself on
level ground.
So much has changed and faded.
Do you remember: 'What was 'there? ' '
Where did it end up? Does anyone care?
The ages, the sages, the pages of stages just
were GONE.
And, very little was left that wasn't standing there alone.
Men try to leave a legacy.
Some of the words written from their heads.
I just know most older man can testify;
whatever we create in truth is: 'NEVER DEAD.'

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This is a persona poem. The poet takes on the persona of an older man who has experienced some of those over 50 years of Hip Hop and Rap. My poems are all created by me but I enjoy using an AI to generate images to go with my poems sometimes. I hope you enjoy the image below.
