Ndidi Amaka Poem by Raimi Babatunde

Ndidi Amaka

My heart trembled at the sight of you
But I heard a strange drum beating in my heart
The drum of "Igba Nkwu", together forever.

The garden of my patience
grows wings of resilience
waiting to fly as the sound
wafts swiftly
across the horizon.

The Masquerade danced its danciest dance
while the children ran about; agog in their coloured pants
The Ogene played synchronised tunes as you sought for me with a cup of palmwine.

What started as a charade now a reality.
a lifelong journey witnessed by all and representatives of the gods.
I waited for the "Udala" to fall off the tree and realised of truth "Ndidi Amaka"
