Navaratri Devi 9 - Siddhidatri Poem by Geeta Radhakrishna Menon

Navaratri Devi 9 - Siddhidatri

Rating: 5.0

Siddhidatri is the Super Mother Goddess
The possessor of ‘Siddhis' or Super powers.
The bestower of goodness and virtues.
She carries twenty six kinds of ‘Siddhis'
Super natural healing powers.

Siddhidatri rides on a lion
She is forever smiling and blissful.
She grants boons to all her devotees,
She blesses the Gods and the celestials,
She blesses the sages and the saints,
She blesses the yogis, tantrics and mystics,
She blesses all men and women on this earth,
She blesses all animals, birds, trees and flowers.

Even Lord Shiva,
The great cosmic dancer,
Worshipped and meditated
On the great Goddess Siddhidatri
To obtain the twenty six ‘Siddhis'.

Dear beloved Goddess of Super Powers!
I do not seek super normal powers, but
I pray to you for normal intelligence,
To differentiate the good from the bad,
To recognise the pure from the impure,
So that I can lead a life of joy and contentment.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
With this poem in praise of "Siddhidatri" I conclude the Series on "Navaratri Devis". It was my great luck to worship and meditate on these nine resplendent Goddesses with their innumerable virtues during the nine days of Navaratri festival.
The fabulous Goddess Durga manifests in nine different forms.
They are; Shailaputri, Brahmachaarini, Chandraghanta, Kushmanda,
Skandamata, Kartyayini, Kaalaratri, Mahaagauri and Siddhidhatri.

An Extract from my book ‘Devi Mahatmyam - Mystic power of the radiant Goddess"
In India, special prayers are offered during the annual festival of Navaratri in the months of September - October. ‘Navaratri' means nine days.

Out of the nine days of its observance, the first three days are reserved for Goddess Durga, the next three days for Goddess Lakshmi and the last three days for the Goddess Sarasvati.
Devi showers her blessings to those who chant her name with devotion.

Siddhidatri is most powerful for which Lord Shiva, the great cosmic dancer, had Worshipped and meditated her to obtain twenty six ‘Siddhis'.Thank you dear Dr. Geeta madam for presentation of this beautiful devotional poem.10
