Devi Katyayani is none other than
The beautiful Parvati - Siva's consort.
One who endures extreme austerity,
One who would go to the end of the world,
To fulfil her objective,
To attain and obtain her goal,
To succeed in her endeavours.
Parvati's penance to obtain
Siva as her husband
Is a legend of great worth.
She is known as Kartyayaini
For her determination and will power.
Another interesting legend is of
A great Sage named Kata
Who had a son named Katya.
He sat in penance
To meditate on Goddess for
The blessing of a beautiful daughter,
Like Goddess Parvati herself.
After a long period of penance,
Katya was blessed with a daughter,
Katya's wish was granted,
Goddess Durga herself was born to him
As his gracious daughter Katyayini -
An incomparable beauty of great virtue.
O Devi! Beautiful and Gracious!
Do bless me with you strong will power
And the ability to endure and tolerate
The vicissitudes of life

Thanks for sharing the Mahatmya of Katyayini, a form of Devi Durga, who is worshipped on the sixth day of Navaratri Puja. I can say it without hesitation that we are not much familiar with these legends of Navadurgas. These have been amazingly told.
