Navaratri Devi 3 - Chandraghanta Poem by Geeta Radhakrishna Menon

Navaratri Devi 3 - Chandraghanta

Rating: 5.0

Chandraghanta- A charming Goddess
Adorned with half-moon on her forehead,
Shaped like a bell, so enchanting!

She is hailed as ‘Chandraghanta'
‘Chandra' meaning a moon
‘Ghanta' means a bell.
She is bright and beautiful like the moon
An epitome of peace and tranquillity.

Chandraghanta is cool, calm and composed
To her ardent ‘bhaktas' or devotees
But she can be fierce and frightening with
Her ten hands and three eyes,
Holding swords and other weapons,
Ever ready to vanquish her deadly enemies.

O Mother Goddess Chandraghanta!
Please come! Riding on a lion!
Protect me from the deadly enemies,
And hold me in your arms, safe and secure.

The poem explains in simple words the greatness of Goddess 'Chandraghanta' who is worshipped on the third day of Navaratri (Nine Days/Nights) as per Hindu traditions. Navaratri days are considered among the most auspicious ones. Thank you Geeta ji. This has been a magnificent work by all means.
