Nature's Life Giver... Poem by Annette Aitken

Nature's Life Giver...

Rating: 5.0

Nature's Life Giver

Behold the giver of life
for every droplet
stream and ocean
dispensing her wealth
as she journeys through
her playing fields.
Her serpent rivers
carrying life between
every crack
every Crag and revean
as she showers everything
she touches in abundance.
Joyfully bungy jumping
over the edge of her cliffs
only to land in her pool of life.

We all need water to survive.

Great poem for something we take for granted far too much at our peril.

The amazing physical properties of water which allow for the possibility of life on this planet are a limitless source of contemplation for writing. The visceral dependence we have on water and its primary impact on our survival have created within the panoply of literature a wealth of philosophical treatises and countless literary analogies. You have added this jaunty, engaging piece to that vast tapestry, and made me thirsty as well. (I am curious though, whether the morphing of crag to Craig is to be blamed on an unimaginative auto-corrector, or a Freudian lapse) ...? :) S
