This poem is deserving of making it into the Urban Legends book which contains the story (and variations thereof) of The Vanishing Hitchhiker. Ghost stories of this type are famously popular around Halloween, as are songs such as the old hit recorded by Dickey Lee, 'Laurie (Strange Things Happen) '. And all the accidents & ghost sightings around the haunted I-4 Dead Zone in Florida, where a stretch of road was built over top of 4 graves.People are fascinated with tales like this!

This is a brilliant poem! Excellent writing, Londis. The story is riveting and the verse is tops - you pay fine attention to rhythm and rhyme. Chilling story, one wonders how it transpired. Just a small point: I think there are a couple of little mistakes in the verse that starts A man had came in from out of the rain...
