Mystery Poem by Nidhi Agarwal

Mystery

Mystery

It was a dark night

The darkness of night seemed like a closet of kohl

The silence of that closet was so profound that the sound of wind could be heard

And the sound of wind was the only sound prevalent

The prevalent sound of wind was broken at intervals by scream

The scream might be of vulture or eagle or might be human

But I was the only human standing on the middle of the road

The road led to four different paths

The exact path was what I did not knew

I knew only the address of the place

As I was about to send the address from my phone

The phone hanged

The hanging increased by heartbeat

The beat became so prominent that even the darkness became aware of it

The awareness disturbed it and at the very moment

Yes, at that very moment a flash of light appeared

It appeared from nowhere

It seemed as it knew where my destination was.

The destination arrived by following the light

The light left me spellbound and speechless

I could only speak when I found myself in the arms of my mother

The arms were so comforting that I held her tight

Tight was the grasp and bright became the night

The night now was brightened with the moon and sparkling stars

But neither the moon nor the stars could answer the question

The question that from where the flash came

And where did the flash go away

Hope someday the mystery of the flash gets solved

Though the solution might prove to be the beginning of new mystery
