My Whole Sun Poem by Tina Baaklini

My Whole Sun

My love,

When I was young,
I used to look for the meaning of life outside
In others, in places, never inside
I used to look for validation outside
In family, in friends, never inside

Growing up, I found
That I speak to myself
More than I speak with anyone else
And that the feelings of my heart
Sweet or bitter, are felt only by me

So I started to focus on my inside
By spending more time with myself
Making peace with the past
For life's lessons cost dearly
But we gain wisdom and maturity

You were with me all the way
On my self-discovery journey
Our inner worlds connect
We are one soul in every aspect

The warmth of your heart was my sunshine
The devotion of your soul was my sunlight
And your unconditional love was my whole sun
