My mother has been there
since nineteen fifty-nine.
With all of her dark hair,
I'll bet she's looking fine.

What an incredible write! Such a heart-felt tribute to deceased family and friends. You almost had me in tears. Both of pain and joy. The people you mentioned are the kind that I would like to meet. I too had a grandfather that I hadn't met. Ironically, I felt his presence during my near-death experience. Thank you for sharing your special gift.
Hello Kim. Love this fine sentimental poem. What an heirloom. Also, I love your rich biography. I’ve lost a lot of poems too because of PC malfunctions. Keep the inspiration flowing. PS: As for my poem “A Sad Comedian.” I’m just learning that it was featured as Poem of the Day, and would like to thank you for your kind comments.
A good poem. I liked it. I share your thoughts. However, it feels like a stanza is missing between 4 and 5. You say she, but it isn't clear who you are talking about.
I have now re-written the stanza, so there is no longer any doubt. Thanks for pointing that out. The rhyme is not as good as it was, but the meaning is clear.
And well worth the re-post. It makes us think of our Ancestors and the roles they played in our lives. It sounds like your Mother died youngish as mine did. She was a great practical joker and always full of fun. Did a lot of Genealogy mainly on my wife's Scottish family. A really fascinating poem worth putting on my favourites.
Wow so heartwarming and marvellous too in rhyme. I too wish n hope to meet a lot of dead loved ones n family in heaven. Like u I never saw my paternal grandad who died before my birth. I like the mention of heaven in poems. Kudos. Great to read from u again, hope u will too my latest, titled 'Pickled Scenery'
Your view of heaven is such a warm and loving one- -full to the brim of family known and family unknown. I am enthralled with what you've done here. I think I will try to memorialize my ancestors in a similar way [but for my own and my family's enjoyment since this is truly your idea. Thank you, too, for the introduction to these people- -perhaps I will get to meet them... but you'll pardon me, I am sure, for hoping I don't meet them soon.! ! ! ! 10 x 10! ! ! ! ...
A fond recollection of family tree from both paternal and maternal sides and getting a feel of heaven in theit memories. Great write as also it's theme. Thanks for sharing it.10 points.
An excellent write.. You are invited to read my poems posted recently..
You have paid homage to all your dear ones- deceased! So much of love has flowed into us through generations and it is because of their sweat and toil and their farsight and loving concern that we are what we now are! A To have a grateful heart for all that they did is a great thing! Yes, we shall meet all of them on the other shore of life. A poem that has come from your heart!
