My Teddy Bear Poem by Padmavathi Rambhakta

My Teddy Bear

My Teddy Bear
…………………………..
You won't show me
your tears
You mostly hide your fears
Bunch of things you stuff in your inner pocket hurriedly
They are all top secrets
Which Maa
should never know

You fall
You get up
Wipe
your sorrows and wounds
relentlessly
Bloom colourful smiles
on your lips
And say
'Maa Iam okay ' childishly

You carry
your dreams and burdens
Paving path for your future
Spend countless
sleepless nights
Narrating naughtiest tales
You say
'Maa Iam fine'
again childishly

My Child
I know
there are
Umpty number of thorns
on your way
Storms throwing you away
And you tell me
Only the stories of butterflies
and Rainbows
Showering drops of nectar
and flowers

After the lengthy Video calls
with Maa
When the conversations end
with good nights
I know
You drown in your
deepest oceans
with despair
hug your darkest nights
with murmur
Closing your lids slowly
You keep searching for
Some Rays of Light

You keep calling me
When you feel lonely
You just ask me
How Iam doing
And you laugh laugh
and simply laugh

My Child
I still have
the little picture of you engraved on
every nook and corner
of my heart
burying the face in my lap
for protective cover
But now
I often think and wonder
with a sigh
'When and how
Did this Teddy Bear grew
so Big and Mature '
