With stinging stones under my feet

It is glad that it is your 600th poem which is touchingly and captivatingly portrayed with horror and beauty, It may be cited...The sapphire waters and the roaring waves / Made me wonder at the horror and beauty, / That inbred dichotomy the sea carries within. You have well captured the beauty and mystery of the sea. Thanks for sharing.10

A great descriptive write. Sea has always been an inspiration for poetic souls. You have captured the beauty n mystery of sea beautifully. The reference to Byron gives it a romantic touch. And this great work reminds the reader of the likes of Wordsworth n Shelley.10

The sea is perhaps one of most 'fertile' images in poetry as far as I feel. Whether in 'Kubla Khan', where Coleridge talks about 'twice' the five miles of the sea, or in Dover Beach where the sea becomes a symbol of faith and time. In each and every one of those poems, all my favourites, the sea and the beach is a wonderful image, full of expressions and meanings. I guess it was Charles Bukowski, who said something in the lines of being away from people (maybe far from the madding crowd) to recharge one's intellectual facalties. It is the same here - only except of Bukowski's cynicism, you have a wonderful puctureseque and soothing mileu of the sea and the beach, like Wordsworth said - having our thoughts 'recollected in tranquility'. A wonderful Romantic poem with a Capital R, that ends with the fine two lines from Byron's poem (I guess it's 'There's pleasure in pathless woods', I haven't, unfortuantely read much of Byron, where I should) . Beautiful and breathtaking, an encounter with oneself amidst the beautiful nature.. Thank you for sharing Valsa ma'am.

Souren... once more let me appreciate your knowledge of great poets. Yes, sea is a powerful image with many poets. I am so fond of the two poems you have mentioned.... Kubla Khan and Dover Beach where sea plays a vital role, especially in the latter! I am not quite familiar with Charles Bukoswki. You have guessed right..... the ending of my poem is from Byron's, There's Pleasure in Pathless Woods! You shouldn't just squander away your knowledge, but put it to great use!

Congratulations Valsa! I'm honored to comment on your 600th poem and to be a colleague! Your poem evokes a sense of calm within me. I've been drawn to the ocean my entire life and return to it whenever possible. Your words recreate the sensations of the ocean from the feel of the pebbles, to the smell of the rotting seaweed, and the feel of the foamy water... Not to mention the open expanses above in the sky. You present an interesting dichotomy of the ocean which intrigued me to read on: the horror and beauty.. And it is exactly that on the extreme ends. Yes! There is rapture in the lonely shores! Thanks for sharing your lovely poem.

600th poem is a mega event and a major milestone in a poet's creative journey worthy of celebration. Heartiest Congratulations, Valsa ji. You have recalled Byron's we quote your words: I slowly walked to the sea shore Enjoying the whistling of the wind through the reeds And sensing the sand slipping away under my feet Enjoying a permeating peace, I had seldom known!

Congratulations Valsa George for writing the 600th poem, an amazing poem of enchanting description. But beauty is beauty of your thoughts. Rest is dressing a doll in a nice manner. You captured a mermaid from the shores, made it a doll, well dressed it and now she is in my hands. and it didn't touch my palm only, It touched my heart as well.
